The Vatican’s Christmas tree has been lit in St Peter’s Square.

Two children from Belgium, turned the lights on in a ceremony that drew a crowd despite the cold weather.

Standing at 30-meters the tree, adorned with white and gold ornaments stands beside a life-size nativity scene that will be unveiled on Christmas Eve.
