Rand Paul announced today that former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has endorsed his bid for the Kentucky Senate seat being vacating by retiring Republican Sen. Jim Bunning.
“Governor Palin is providing tremendous leadership as the Tea Party movement and constitutional conservatives strive to take our country back,” Rand said in a statement praising the former GOP vice presidential nominee as “a giant in American politics.”
Paul, the son of Texas Rep. Ron Paul, is running as the outsider in a Republican primary contest against establishment favorite Secretary of State Trey Grayson.
Palin has identified herself with the Tea Party movement—she will headline a Nashville-based convention of Tea Party activists this weekend—but her endorsements aren’t all anti-establishment.
