CLEBURNE — A parade of Republican candidates and elected officials addressed a crowd of conservative activists Saturday, promising a sea change in Austin and Washington come November.
The “Real Change is Coming” rally organized by the Burleson Tea Party took up a corner of Forrest Chevrolet-Cadillac, a General Motors dealership that was shut down by the beleaguered company last summer.
Owner Michael Forrest said he offered the space to organizers for free because he supports their views and wanted to draw attention to the way he feels he was unfairly dumped by GM.

Republican gubernatorial candidate Debra Medina closed out the rally and appeared to draw the strongest response. She said her upstart campaign was transforming the political landscape and making her goal of abolishing property taxes plausible.
“People come up to me with tears in their eyes, grateful we are fighting this fight,” Medina said.
Medina has previously spoken about drawing enough voters in the March primary to end up in a runoff against Gov. Rick Perry. On Saturday, she predicted she could win the race outright if supporters worked hard for her over the next month.
