Corridor Segment Committee to help develop new MY35 plan
AUSTIN — During the next six months, four Interstate 35 Corridor Segment Committees along the I-35 corridor will meet monthly as part of a new citizen-driven planning effort to develop a blueprint of improvements for the corridor. These committees are comprised of regional community, business, and transportation leaders.
Once each segment committee completes its regional blueprint, it will collaborate with the I-35 Corridor Advisory Committee, as well as other I-35 Corridor Segment Committees, to consolidate each regional blueprint into a comprehensive, long-range mobility plan for the entire I-35 corridor.
Dubbed “MY 35” this effort will result in a plan that reflects the interests and concerns of citizens for the corridor.
Last year, the I-35 Corridor Advisory Committee outlined MY 35 as a new planning effort that starts at the community level, instead of one directed by the TxDOT.
MY 35 calls for a citizens’ perspective on I-35 improvements, which includes identifying corridor needs, conducting public outreach efforts, collaborating with public and local stakeholders, and creating regional transportation blueprints.
The MY 35 effort, which will be overseen by the I-35 Corridor Advisory Committee and the four segment committees, will be the blueprint provided to TxDOT that will guide future corridor development.
Members of the segment committees represent metropolitan planning organizations, counties and other entities with an interest in transportation, such as cities, chambers of commerce, economic development organizations, and others. Members were appointed by the local entities they represent.
All Corridor Segment Committee meetings are open to the public, and a complete listing of corridor advisory committees, members and meetings is available at Keep Texas Moving.
